Interpreting Shakespeare

Members of the RSC Creative Team work with actors on scenes from Shakespeare to reveal the enormous number of choices available in bringing a scene to life (suitable for ages 7+).

Explore the worlds, characters and language of Shakespeare’s plays in a fun and active way (suitable for ages 5 - 7).

Play in a Day

Arden Street, Rehearsal Room 2, 10am - 6pm

Young people aged between 8 - 11 years are invited to work with an RSC Director to create their own version of a Shakespeare play. Performances will be held at Waterside Space, Room 3 at 5.30pm to w hich friends and family are invited.

Animating Shakespeare

Waterside Space, Room 1, 10am - 2pm

Explore how you might stage a scene in this simple animation workshop where you can create your own filmed versions of a Shakespeare scene and take a copy home with you (suitable for ages 9 - 13).

Bringing Shakespeare’s Fight Scenes to Life

Waterside Space, Room 2, 11.30am - 12.45pm and 2.30 - 3.45pm

How would you stage Shakespeare’s famous fight scenes? A workshop introducing the basics of stage combat.

Write a Play in a Day

Arden Street, Rehearsal Room 3, 11.30am - 6pm

Young people aged 13 - 16 years are invited to create their own play inspired by Shakespeare. The plays will then be read through by RSC actors at the Waterside Space, Room 3 at 5.30pm to which friends and family are invited.

Manga Shakespeare  book tickets

Parish Centre, 1 - 2.30pm and 2.45 - 4.15pm

Get creative and learn new skills with these practical comics workshops based on two of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. The workshops will be led by professional Manga artists Paul Duffield and Kate Brown of publisher, SelfMadeHero.

Materials will be supplied and knowledge of the plays is not required. For more information on Manga Shakespeare visit www.selfmadehero.com.

1 - 2.30pm: Designing your own character for A Midsummer Night's Dream (suitable for ages 10+).

2.45 - 4.15pm: Sequential art, tips and tricks using The Tempest (suitable for ages 14+)

Using a range of materials and techniques, create your very own island from The Tempest to take home with you.

How to book

Tickets for paid events are available in advance by calling 0844 800 1114 or online.

Any remaining tickets will be sold at the Box Office from 9.30am on the day. Remaining tickets for paid events at any other venue will be available, on the day, in person at the relevant venue from 30 minutes before the event.

Entry to free events will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, 30 minutes before the start at the relevant venue.
