Competition rules

Poems must be no longer than 14 lines long. Maximum number of words permitted is 140. Open to UK residents only. You must be 12 or older to enter. One winner will be selected from each of the following age groups: 12-16; 17-30; 31-45; over 45. You may enter more than once, but each entry must be a different poem. Poems can be in any style, but should be your own original creation. Please state your name, age and contact details when entering and if you are under 18 your parent or guardian must give permission for you to enter. A selection of the best entries will be published on the RSC website.

Closing date for entries: Monday 22 June 2009. Please submit entries online at www.rsc.org.uk, by email to poetry.competition@rsc.org.uk or by post to;

All entries received via Twitter must include the hashtag #rsc and be no more than 140 characters including the hashtag. You must be 18 or older to enter.
