Twelfth Night directed by Gregory Doran
Everyone is looking for love - some in impossible places. Some mourn the love they have lost. Some long for love they are refused. In Illyria love aches and madness rules.
RSC Chief Associate Director Gregory Doran directs a company including Richard Wilson, joining the RSC for the first time to play Malvolio. An award-winning actor and director Richard's recent stage appearances include Whipping It Up, Waiting for Godot and What the Butler Saw. In addition to his role as Victor Meldrew in One Foot in the Grave, Richard's other TV includes the BBC's Merlin.
Among others returning to the Company he is joined by RSC Associate Artist Richard McCabe as the rowdy Sir Toby Belch. Richard's most recent appearance with the RSC was his acclaimed performance as King John during the Complete Works Festival. Also returning are Nancy Carroll as Viola, Alexandra Gilbreath as Olivia and James Fleet as Andrew Aguecheek. Nancy recently appeared in Arcadia at the Duke of York's while Alexandra was most recently at the RSC in Merry Wives the Musical. James has just opened The Observer at the National Theatre and is well known for playing the role of Hugo in BBC 1's The Vicar of Dibley.
Gregory's recent RSC productions include 2008's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Love's Labour's Lost and the award-winning Hamlet.
Twelfth Night runs at The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from 15 October - 21 November 2009 before transferring to London.
