Access and facilities at Northern Stage
There is level access to Northern Stage via the new Kings Road entrance, accessible by car from the Claremont Road entrance to Newcastle University. There is also level access from the University car park on the Barras Bridge side of the building. The new entrance on Union Lawn (opposite the Students Union) has level access from the Kings Road side, but currently only has access from Kings Walk via a flight of approximately twenty steps.
All three entrances have automated doors and the theatre has three new lifts providing level access to all parts of the building.
There are facilities to have up to six wheelchair positions in the Stage 1 auditorium in three different rows, two positions in Stage 2, and in Stage 3 all the seats are removable. Unfortunately, due to health and safety regulations, it is not possible for Northern Stage staff to help visitors out of wheelchairs.
Guide, hearing and all working dogs are welcome throughout the building.
