The Holly & The Ivy
The Holly & The Ivy

The Holly and the Ivy is a Christmas entertainment for all ages, devised and directed by Ali Troughton. For over 20 years it has been an extremely successful annual event at the RSC's Swan and Courtyard Theatres, Stratford-upon-Avon, attracting full houses every year and making well over £150,000 for designated charities.

For 2014 the nominated charities are the Stratford Cancer and Eye Hospital Appeal, Life-Ways Carers Cafe and Stratford-upon-Avon Cricket Club. About 15 actors - many well known faces locally and on television - perform the event lasting about two and a half hours including a 20-minute interval. 'A laugh, a song and a tear' best describes its format - a genuinely enjoyable evening including carols, poetry, readings and a pantomime! Just what is needed to set up the festive season.

This year, cast includes the Troughton family – David and Ali, Sam (Much in the BBC’s Robin Hood) Jim (captain of the championship winning Warwickshire County Cricket Club) and William (touring in The Ladykillers all over the country) - plus Phyllida Hancock, Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films) and Stratford locals Claire Nielson, Paul Greenwood, Kim Hartman (‘Allo, ‘Allo) and John Nolan.
