Brush Up Your Shakespeare
Royal Shakespeare Theatre
Sunday 22 July, 7.15pm
Tickets cost £5
Performed by Luxulyan Amateur Dramatic Society as part of a two act performance with Rugby Theatre
Brush Up Your Shakespeare centres around Suzannah, a bored schoolgirl who is persuaded to go on a hop-on hop-off tourist bus in her home town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Expecting to go on the usual tourist trail she is amazed to find the bus taking her to such destinations as Villains and Lovers.
You are invited to join Suzannah on the journey of her life time.
About Luxulyan Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS)
Although they have never performed any Shakespeare before, LADS have chosen to perform a Shakespeare themed play written and directed by one of their members, Penny Gorman.
Following an accident where Penny was confined to her bed for several months, she wrote Brush Up Your Shakespeare. As the title suggests Penny read many of Shakespeare's plays again and rediscovered her love of his work.
During rehearsals and workshops, LADS have also been on a journey, much like their lead character Suzannah. It's been a journey that has fired their imagination, developed confidence and enabled them to experiment with new and innovative ideas.
