DRESS WORN BY BILLE WHITELAW
The Greeks, 1980
Director: John Barton
Costume Designer: John Napier
Adaptors: John Barton and Kenneth Cavander
The Greeks were three plays that told the story of the House of Atreus. They were adapted from the work of ancient writers such as Homer, Euripides and Sophocles.
The members of the House of Atreus include some of the more well known names from Greek mythology including Helen of Troy. The plays told the story of the Trojan wars and the events that led up to them. This dress was worn by Billie Whitelaw who played Andromache. At the beginning of the series the costumes were classical like this one. By the end they were more modern in design.
