Shipwrecked on the shores of Illyria and mourning her lost twin brother, young Viola quickly becomes entangled in courts and courtships of the Island. Shakespeare's comic masterpiece is given a fast, fun and folky production with live music and an imaginative staging.

About York Shakespeare Project

Set up in 2001 by a group of enthusiasts who'd been involved in the York Millenium Mystery Plays, the Project's goal is to produce the complete plays of William Shakespeare in York over 20 years in roughly chronological order.

They employ exciting directors to lead each new production so each play is a new adventure for the company. Auditions are always open to all. The actors are unpaid.
