Throughout August, relax on our Bancroft Terrace and enjoy the summer weather with our fun seaside themed events and activities for all the family. Buy an ice lolly or treat yourself to an ice cream sundae as you soak up live music, Punch and Judy shows and much more. All activities are free and suitable for all ages.

Billy's Beachcomber Trail
Help Billy Shakespeare complete The Tempest by finding missing words from Ariel's song around the theatre.

Silly faces board
Pose as a Shakespeare character with your friends at our silly faces board, or create your own characters to pose with on the blackboard.

12 - 12.45pm and 1.30 - 2.15pm
Live music: Sonanta Flamenca
Latin rhythms and exciting Flamenco harmonies to accompany your sunbathing.

Sunday 10 August

11am, 1pm and 3pm
Punch and Judy shows by Professor Clive Chandler
Come and enjoy a puppet show where audience participation is positively encouraged. Punch and Judy shows are one of the most traditional British seaside activities, with a history stretching back over 300 years.

Sunday 17 August

12 - 12.45pm and 1.30 - 2.15pm
Live music: Nicky Pound and Lucy Huzzard
Enjoy melodeon and viola duo Nicky and Lucy's take on traditional music from England, Scotland and Scandinavia.

Sunday 24 August

Drop in between 10am and 5pm
Pavement Art Workshop
Watch our artists create a seaside scene on the ground, and learn how to add your own details.

Live music: Askew Sisters

Using fiddle and melodeon, the Askew Sisters play and sing with an infectious enjoyment and love for the music, winning them fans wherever they go.

As the seaside scene continues to grow across the terrace, help the artists by adding your own artwork.
