'What visions have I seen!'

After a successful performance of Twelfth Night at The Dell in 2013, Midsummer Madness has returned with a glorious new production of Shakespeare's most magical comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Transported to the revolutionary 1980s, prepare to be dazzled by rebellious punk-rock fairies and tickled by a determined acting troupe of miners. Witness the melancholy lovers break free from the materialistic bubble of yuppies into the wild forest where rebellion, beauty and passion conquer all. The stage is set for love spells, squabbles and transformations, all under the mischievous eye of Robin Goodfellow.

Devised by current and alumni students from the University of Exeter, this ensemble-driven company will present the madcap escapades of the lovers, fairies and mechanicals in a chaotic world of folly and power struggle. It will be a dynamic, playful performance enriched with desire, mischief, nostalgia, music and enchantment.

About Midsummer Madness Theatre Company

The company is invested in finding delight, play and wonder in classical works and literary adaptations. They performed a production of Twelfth Night at The Dell last year, which was critically received as 'a wonderfully joyous performance'.

The ensemble's MA/MFA students recently completed a residency at Shakespeare's Globe, a south-west tour of Romeo and Juliet and this summer, Midsummer Madness will be presenting a 1940s-style performance of Much Ado About Nothing, funded by the Cymbeline Award. The ensemble of A Midsummer Night's Dream originate from contrasting cultural and working backgrounds, each with a high degree of differing skills and experience in the theatre industry. A close-knit ensemble and united by their passion for Shakespeare, they are determined to charm their audiences with joyful entertainment.
