Travelling by underground
The nearest underground stations are Covent Garden, Holborn and Charing Cross (on the Bakerloo, Piccadilly and Central and Northern lines). All three are within walking distance of the Novello Theatre. The nearest National Rail station is Charing Cross.

Travelling by underground
Under 10 minutes walk from and Tower Hill or Aldgate East (exit 22 for Leman Street)

From Tower Hill turn left out of the tube (which makes the Tower of London on your right, across the road) and cross over the traffic lights towards Tower Gateway DLR, Shorter Street is a small road inbetween two large office blocks, one is Societe General and the other is called Sceptre Court. Walk down Shorter Street and cross over the lights to Royal Mint Street. Carry on down this road with the railway line on your left until you get to the cross road, turn right down Ensign Street just past Poppies Diner and immediately left onto Graces Alley.

From Aldgate East follow the subway signs to Exit 22 so you come out on Leman Street, walk all the way down this road until you come under the railway arches, cross over onto Ensign Street which is a little on the left, just past Poppies Diner, turn immediately left onto Graces Alley.

Travelling by train
Under 10 minutes walk from Tower Gateway or Shadwell. From Tower Gateway follow the Tower Hill Tube directions above. From Shadwell turn left out of the station onto Cable Street and turn left so you are walking down Cable Street towards the City (look out for the Gerkin or the high rises if you are unsure. Turn left down Ensign Street and left onto Graces Alley. If you pass a pub called the Artful Dodger you have walked too far.

Travelling by bus
D3 stops five minutes walk from the theatre on Cannon Street Road. 115 stops on Commercial Rd. RV1, 100, 79, 42, stop five minutes the other way on Minories / East Smith Field. 15 stops outside Tower Hill tube and the Tower of London. 25, 205 and 254 stop at Aldgate East tube or around the Aldgate roundabout.

Travelling by car
Look out for the yellow AA signs to Wiltons from The Highway, Aldgate and Tower Hill. PARKING: Limited parking is available in Ensign Street and surrounding streets. It is free after 5.30pm and at weekends. There is a public car park on the corner of Mansell Street and Shorter Street.

Car parking is available at Tesco in Morning Lane (after 6pm), and opposite the Empire is the Council Car Park (a parking voucher must be requested from Box Office) Council Car Park.

By public transport
The Hackney Empire is on Mare Street. Buses 30, 38, 48, 55, 106, 236 (24hr), 242 (24hr), 253, 254, 276, 277 (24hr), 394, D6, W15, N38, N55, N106, N253.

The nearest underground stations are Bethnal Green (Central Line) and then the 106 or 254 bus, Highbury & Islington (Victoria Line) and then the 30 or 277 bus, or the Silverlink to Hackney Central.
