Walls, cores, columns and floor slabs
- 06 August 2008
The major part of the work being progressed is still the concrete substructure and superstructure which is being undertaken by John Doyle: the walls, cores, columns and floor slabs of the thrust stage auditorium are now well under way and new structures are clearly visible from beyond the site boundary hoardings.
The sealing of the ground around the new basement that is to be excavated has now been completed and excavation work is now under way in the area of the old orchestra pit.
Elsewhere work continues around the theatre buildings to lay new drainage routes and to prepare a new ground floor slab on the riverside.
