End of demolition

The concrete structures that will form the shell of the auditorium are now reaching up towards the circle level of the auditorium whilst below ground excavations for the new thrust stage basement are taking place. Work is now progressing with concrete foundations throughout the whole auditorium and on the riverside where the new actors' accommodation wing will be constructed.
From across the River Avon you can see the preparations for the linking of the accommodation wing back into the revealed brick wall of the Swan Theatre: these are called pad stones - concrete pads within holes cut in the brickwork on which the wing's structural frame will rest.
The departure of the large yellow mobile crane will herald the end of the demolition works and the departure of DSM, our demolition contractor who have been with us throughout our first year on site.
Next week our logistics contractor - Elliott Thomas, whose staff you see every day managing all our gates - will be preparing for our open day: Site Sunday on July 6th.
