Project Director - 05 March 2008
During last week the demolition of the area adjacent to the stage door and within the fly tower basement continued. The lifting beam from the get-in has been removed and may be used as a "relic" in connection with the new tower.
A number of bat boxes have been installed under the supervision of our environmental consultants. The piling contractor has made a good start removing ten old piles and beginning work on the basement foundations by creating guide walls prior to the installation of the deep piles that will form the new basement.
During this week demolition in the area of the stage door and within the fly tower continues. Piling work continues with the remaining guide walls around the orchestra pit and to the west core of the auditorium. Piling work proper commences. Preparation for the installation of the base of one of the tower cranes continues under the supervision of the project archaeologists.
