New spaces
In order to transform the Royal Shakespeare Theatre it was necessary to create new spaces to house the RSC Nursery, our rehearsal rooms and the staff who previously worked in the theatre.
Phase two of the project involved the creation of a new nursery at The Thatch, next door to Anne Hathaway's Cottage in Shottery, new rehearsal rooms at Arden St and a new administration hub on the Chapel Lane site.

Staff who vacated the Royal Shakespeare Theatre moved into a new home in August 2007. The Chapel Lane site is a central hub for 150 of the theatre's staff including Producers, Education, Production teams, Music and also the RSC's Artistic Director, Michael Boyd and Vikki Heywood, Executive Director.

Arden Street rehearsal rooms
With the closure of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the opening of The Courtyard Theatre on the site of The Other Place, we needed to build new rehearsal rooms in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The Arden Street rehearsal rooms opened in 2006 and were developed from an old warehouse.

Theatre Nursery
Our theatre Nursery has been in operation since 1963. The facility was previously located at the old Tennis Club on the site of the temporary Courtyard Theatre which now houses members of our technical and stage management teams who work on The Courtyard Theatre productions.
