Over the last week John Doyle's concrete work continued in the depths on the thrust stage basement walls whilst the new tower lift shaft continues upwards to the third level. This week concrete ground floor slabs are being laid in a number of areas, including the Swan end of the new colonnade, between the Swan Theatre and the old library and gallery. Meanwhile Lesterose have completed brickwork repairs to the old gatehouse at the Swan end of the site and continue repairs to the river elevation and on the reconstruction of the stage wing.
Billingtons are continuing to progress the steelwork, working on three fronts: completing the new actor's accommodation on the river side of the Swan; suspending steel structures from the new roof trusses to form the upper technical levels of the new auditorium and forming a new structure over stage left.
Two new trade contractors have begun work: KLH are installing timber floor decks for the new steel structures and are working on the riverside whilst Stage Electrics are removing old cabling and trunking in the basement of the Swan Theatre.
