In September 2006, the Royal Shakespeare Company opened its doors to local residents free of charge. The RSC was one of thousands of venues around the country who invited people to look around their building and learn more about how they work as well as their history.
Visitors took part in a tour of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre’s public and backstage spaces, with the chance to see parts of the building that are normally closed to members of the public. There was also an opportunity to hear about the theatre’s plans for the transformation of its theatre buildings and to give their views on how they would like to see the new theatre develop.
