Artists' Development Programme
"Acting is a craft like music or painting, which requires constant and vigilant practice. A musician or artist can get up every morning when they're not being paid and still practise. Actors can't. But over the past two years, we've had the privilege of getting up every morning and practising our craft. You can't but get better."
Nicholas Asbury, The Histories Ensemble
Our Artists' Development Programme is a deliberate generosity of time, space and support dedicated to the ongoing nurturing of theatre artists. We offer cross-company training in voice, verse, movement and fight skills providing support to actors of all levels and ages.
From Dame Judi Dench and Sir Ian McKellen to David Tennant and Tamsin Greig and the next generation of British actors, the Artists' Development Programme has benefited the best in the business. The ground-breaking programme is solely reliant upon donations, grants and funds raised from events such as this gala.

Supporting the programme
Join us at the Royal Shakespeare Company 2008 Gala to help raise funds to continue this invaluable work to the benefit of artists and audiences in Stratford-upon-Avon, London and across the world.
With its unique Art Deco design and its high vaulted ceilings, the Lawrence Hall looks set to be an impressive backdrop to the evening's events. These will include a champagne reception with an opportunity to view examples of the work of our theatrecraft departments, an especially commissioned performance featuring members of the current acting ensembles together with RSC alumni, and a seated dinner followed by a 'money can't buy' auction.
