Charterhouse Tour - buy tickets
Wednesday 12 March 2014
Join us for a tour of the Charterhouse with Dr Stephen Porter, Charterhouse archivist, Stratford resident and author of Shakespeare's London.
If Shakespeare visited London today, there are few buildings he would recognise. Middle Temple Hall – which we recently visited – is one, and the Charterhouse is another. Charterhouse is a little known architectural gem. The Bassanos, Venetian musicians brought to London by Henry VIII, were housed in several of the monks' cells. Sonnet sleuths – look out!
Meet at Charterhouse, Charterhouse Square, London EC1M 6AN at 2pm. Alternatively, meet beforehand at St Giles Cripplegate Church, Barbican EC2Y 8DA at 12noon for a visit to this notable medieval church with strong literary connections, then we will enjoy a pub lunch and go on to Charterhouse for 2pm.
Tickets: £20. This includes a walking tour with Dr Porter and a visit to the chapel, followed by tea and cakes in the library. Maximum 30 people. Please email Coreen at email@example.com after you have booked with the Box Office with your contact details for further information.
Booking closes on 21 February, 10.30am.
