Since I cannot prove a lover… I am determined to prove a villain Richard III (1.i.28-30)
Welcome to the RSC's new Play Guide on Richard III, Shakespeare's hugely popular, self-consciously theatrical account of the rise and downfall of England's last Plantagenet king.
The Guide is, first and foremost, a profile of Sean Holmes's production which opened in Stratford on 23rd July 2003. It has been designed to open up the work of the RSC and to help audiences understand more about the process of interpreting Shakespeare and staging plays.
The Play Guide is crammed with information and should prove useful, not just to those who come and see the show but also for those who teach or study Shakespeare, Drama, Theatre Studies, Performing Arts and English Literature.
