RSC celebrates Shakespeare's birthday with four special events on Sunday 27 April

As part of Stratford-upon-Avon’s Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations, the Royal Shakespeare Company will host four events in the birthday marquee in the Centenary Gardens on Southern Lane on Sunday 27 April.

The events
1-1.45pm
Bond Meets The Bard
Come and discover what the iconic James Bond series of films have in common with recent RSC productions.
Stage and screen actors, Alan Cumming (Boris Grishenko in GoldenEye) and Julian Glover (Aristotle Kristatos, in For Your Eyes Only) consider what it takes to be play the archetypal Bond villain, and the similarities between these characters and Shakespeare’s ‘baddies’.
2.15-3pm
Table Talk
A chance to listen and watch as actors work with director, Conall Morrison, through the early stages of their first encounter with a Shakespearean text. Conall is directing this season’s production of The Taming of the Shrew in The Courtyard Theatre.
3.30-4.15pm
Shakespeare and Me
Stage and screen actor Sir Donald Sinden reflects upon his career and relationship with Shakespeare.
4.45-5.30pm
Getting Intimate with Strangers
RSC actors Penny Downie and Alexandra Gilbreath reveal what draws them to particular characters from the Shakespeare canon, offering insights about how they portray these characters as people we recognise.
The RSC’s popular Open Day, which attracts over 15,000 people every year, will, this year, take place on Sunday 31 August, when the Company will open its doors to the public with a packed programme of backstage tours, talks and workshops by RSC practitioners. Further information to be announced.
