RSC Archive

The RSC's archive is held by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon. The archives, which hold a wealth of information about the Company's performance history, were described by Robert Smallwood, in Shakespeare in Stratford as:

'...among the most important in the world; for the study of the performance history of Shakespeare's plays in the twentieth century it is unsurpassed'.

Along with cast lists and performance dates, the archive includes production posters, videos, photographs, prompt books, designs, music manuscripts and reviews of RSC productions.

For those visiting the archives in person, the Library is open to the public throughout the week, but closes on Saturday afternoons and Sundays. For more information on the Library, please visit the Trust's website (please note that to preserve the archives there are special conditions for access to certain materials).
