Middleton wrote two great tragedies, The Changeling in 1621 and Women Beware Women in 1623, at that time the two most powerful plays written in England since the death of Shakespeare.

Penelope Wilton returns to the Company following previous performances in two Chekhov masterpieces, The Seagull and The Cherry Orchard. Having recently appeared in Federico García Lorca’s The House of Bernarda Alba at the National Theatre, she is one of our most popular actresses on stage and screen.

Director Laurence Boswell was director of the celebrated Spanish Golden Age Season, directing the opening production The Dog in the Manger. He wrote and directed the RSC’s successful Christmas production of Beauty and the Beast and his production of Hecuba with Vanessa Redgrave played at the Albery Theatre, London, prior to dates in New York and Washington. His work outside of the RSC includes the West End productions of Popcorn, This is Our Youth and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg.


Women Beware Women runs at the Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon from 16 February - 1 April 2006.
