Anton Chekhov’s masterpiece entwines comic and tragic situations in the lives of a famous actress, her son and their lovers. As the young strive for fulfilment, their older counterparts look back to youthful dreams that remain unfulfilled.
Frances Barber returns to the RSC to play Arkadina. She last appeared with the Company in 1985. Her recent stage work includes Cleopatra at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre: Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and performing alongside Ian McKellen in Aladdin at The Old Vic. Other credits include Love in a Cold Climate and BAFTA Nominated Funland, both for the BBC.
The Seagull runs in repertoire at the Courtyard Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon from the 17 April - 23 June 2007.
