A tempestuous love affair struggles to survive as power politics and the demands of Ancient Rome and Egypt tear these two great leaders apart.
Chief Associate Director Gregory Doran directs the RSC's first staging of this epic play in the intimate surroundings of the Swan Theatre. His most recent productions include A Midsummer Night's Dream (RST), Sejanus: His Fall (Swan), All's Well That Ends Well with Judi Dench and Othello with Antony Sher.
Associate Artist Harriet Walter plays Cleopatra. Her recent RSC roles include Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing and Lady Macbeth opposite Antony Sher in 1999.
Honorary Associate Artist Patrick Stewart plays Antony also appears Prospero in Rupert Goold's production of The Tempest.
Antony and Cleopatra runs in repertoire at the Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon from 12 April - 14 October 2006.
