Sixth Form Conference Hamlet

Designed for 16+ English or Theatre Studies students studying Shakespeare.

Hamlet - Tuesday 4 November 2008

This session will consider the director's role and the challenges faced in bringing Shakespeare's plays to the stage today.

It will also explore some of the choices that the director has made in the current production of Hamlet. The day will consider the original performance conditions and context as well as previous 20th century productions.

Members of the ensemble and creative team will be on hand to explore these choices with the students and offer insights into the RSC rehearsal room techniques used to access Shakespeare's language and uncover meaning. The day culminages in an opportunity to see the current production of Hamlet.
