Strategy for the Education Department
The work of the RSC's Education Department is to deepen the understanding and enjoyment of Shakespeare for young people, up to the age of 19, regardless of ability and background. Our approach is to use creative learning methods adapted from the theatrical process, and to apply these to learning environments.
We believe that an understanding of Shakespeare:
- Helps young people's educational achievements;
- Enriches the lives of young people because Shakespeare offers so many opportunities for learning about ourselves and the world we live in;
- Gives young people access to a major influence on Britain's cultural heritage.
Who is our work for?
- Young people in education in the UK
- Teachers and lecturers in the UK education sector
- Theatre educators
