About the Education Department

Mission for all learning work across the RSC is to:

  • Provide a bridge for existing and new audiences to engage with our productions and theatre processes.
To help all our audiences enjoy, understand and extend their knowledge of the process of making theatre through a strategic programme of events and exhibitions.
  • Give all young people opportunities to have a positive experience of Shakespeare.
To give teachers the confidence, skills and support to engage in the practical teaching of Shakespeare’s plays; to give young people ownership of Shakespeare by unlocking the power of his language and exploring the contemporary relevance of his plays.
  • Create opportunities within the Company to learn from one another, through a process we’ve dubbed ensemble learning.
This includes formal training and the informal sharing of creative skills and professional expertise at all levels right across the organisation.
