Letter from the Artistic Director
2011 marks 50 years since Peter Hall founded the Royal Shakespeare Company: 50 years that have seen the Company play a vital role at the heart of international theatre, working with, learning from and training a who's who of playwrights, actors, directors and theatre practitioners.
Our relationship with America is a perfect example of our collaborative approach to theatre, through US artists on our Stratford stages, partnerships with American universities, creative exchanges with American theatre companies, or our unprecedented six-week residency at New York's Lincoln Center Festival and Park Avenue Armory, in association with The Ohio State University.
I look forward to working even more closely with the breadth of talent that America offers, exploring theatre-making together, and continuing to keep the legacy of Shakespeare central to both our countries.
Michael Boyd, RSC Artistic Director
