The consequences

Who's this? Sian Thomas plays Lady Macbeth.

Context: Couples that kill.
As part of their research the actors found particular interest in Nicolae and Elena Ceaucescu who ran a repressive regime during the 1970's & 1980's in Romania. Like the Macbeths, they had an overwhelming desire for power and were even prepared to use children for political ends. Many people believed Elena to be the real power behind the dictatorship as Nicolae became weak and ill. When a mass rally of demonstrators gathered to protest against this tyrannical regime, Nicolae Ceaucescu retreated inside the party headquarters and ordered the army to fire on the crowd. They refused and sided with the demonstrators.
