Staging the Ghost

Hamlet's father is seen everywhere

Who's this? Greg Hicks plays the Ghost of Old Hamlet, the Player King and the Gravedigger.

Did you know? The idea of a Dumbshow is strange to a modern audience: it can seem on the page as though the story will be told twice. On stage, however, the style of the movement can make this seem more like a dance. Liz Ranken, who designed the movement for the piece, wanted the Dumbshow to be subversive and not at all easy and pleasant.
