Staging choices

These pages offer insights into the backstage work supporting the performance. They are full of visual details and production photos. A Midsummer Night's Dream is especially interesting - and challenging - as it allows so much freedom for the designer's imagination.
The director and designer talk about working together in preparing the world for the actors to inhabit. You can compare the look of this production with earlier RSC interpretations. The designer talks about the development of his ideas and you can see the set changes. There are details of the choices made over costume and fairy transformation. Also you can see demonstrations of the use of puppets which was an individual feature of this production.
