About the play
When a bride is won with an enemy's money, the debt must be repaid. As bonds of friendship are put to the test, either love or hatred could triumph in Shakespeare's unsettling comedy.
The RSC's 2008 production of The Merchant of Venice is directed by Tim Carroll. Angus Wright and Georgina Rich play Shylock and Portia.
