Antipholus of Syracuse (Richard Katz)
Most performances of this production of The Comedy of Errors took place in schools. The company took over entire halls with the audience of school-children sitting around three sides of the playing space. The action took place anywhere, including - as shown here - among the children.
Wearing chunky boots and a bleach-blonde wig, the Courtesan (Mariah Gale) entertains her guests.David Carr (right) accompanies on the drum.
At the start of The Comedy of Errors, Egeon describes how he and his wife, his twin sons and their twin servants came to be separated by a shipwreck. In this production, the company acted out this story while Egeon spoke, showing the twins tied together. As is conventional in The Comedy of Errors, the Antipholus and Dromio twins wore identical costumes so the audience could easily identify them.

The company act out Egeon's story of the shipwreck while the Duke of Ephesus, Solinus, watches. Using sounds, music and an oversize grey costume, the company created the violent storm which broke up the ship.

As Egeon (David Carr) tells Solinus (James Traherne) about the shipwreck which separated his family, they watch the company acting out the story.
Adriana (Christine Entwisle) grows angry and confused about her husband's behaviour.In the background, Peter Peverley (left) and James Traherne provide musical accompaniment to the scene.
