Show call only
May 23, 2012
A beautiful phrase. Marvellous sweet music to our ears. 'Show call only' means there will be no other calls for the day except the normal calls for the performance. Some of our cast have been working relentlessly with understudy rehearsals in preparation for the public understudy runs, the last of which was on Friday 18th.
There was some marvellous inventive work on view in these runs and I am full of admiration for my colleagues who have worked so hard. It transpires that my fellow WCFIT blogger, Ankur Bahl, has now performed in every scene of our trilogy bar one.
Now we have a little holiday before starting another batch of technical rehearsals to get our shows into London's Roundhouse.
The RSC have trucked an entire theatre interior down from its Stratford Warehouse and built it inside the old engine shed at Chalk Farm. It'll be so interesting to hear our shows in a new acoustic and see how they run after a couple of weeks on the back burner.
My wife and daughter are joining me this weekend and we'll be spending a few days in a yurt. I've told them to bring their wellies. Stephen Hagan is escaping our appalling English weather to fly to Florida... where the forecast is a week of heavy storms. Tempests, in fact.
Photo: our cosy yurt at Talton Lodge. Can't wait.
