The good the bad and the ugly
October 11, 2011
Hello everyone
I'm going to be blogging over the next few weeks about rehearsals. The good the bad and the ugly – (my body looks like a bruised apple at the moment).
We are at the end of our second week of rehearsal already but we have achieved so much. The sword fights are choreographed it's just a case of getting them ingrained in our brains!
Also Fiona Lait gave us a rope workshop how to climb, do foot locks and hang upside down. I can now climb up (see picture) it took me a while as my upper body strength was weak but in a few weeks time I will be built like a brick house.
The first week felt like a bit of a dream because there was a bit of an overlap with The Globe so I was rehearsing during the day and performing in the evening.
Last Wednesday we had a day trip to Stratford to be measured for costume, I must say they made a very thorough job of it!
We had a nose around the stage, did some voice work and a movement workshop - seeing what physically is needed to keep the space alive.
Myself and Darri who is playing Pierre, were also planning our 'into the wild' expedition. Basically Marion and Pierre go into the forest so we thought it would be good if we did it for real somewhere.
It will probably end up being on Clapham common so if you see a man and a woman setting up camp there... It's us!
Stratford really is beautiful. I did not realise how overwhelmed I would be when we were coming into it on the coach, just remembering about all the times I had been to there on school trips and as a student actor to watch shows. Then there I was winging my way there with a coach full of great actors stuffing marshmallows in my mouth. Perfecto!
