Plunging into Pericles

The time of my life

October 9, 2012

Hannah in front of the Pericles posterWhat a roller coaster few months it has been! I have had the time of my life and learnt so much from so many people! It's been a privilege and a pleasure to work with such outstanding people both on and off stage.

A highlight moment was a random audience member coming up to me and congratulating me saying 'If it hadn't been advertised as amateur, I wouldn't have known…' I think that speaks volumes about the whole aim of the project. We most definitely broke that barrier between the professional world and the amateur world and blew many people expectations out of the water!

Production week was amazing – the quick changes I had to do were impressively fast. It was great to have a free run of such a beautiful theatre and one of which I have such special memories.

On the last day of our performance I spent a bit of time just sat on the top of The Cube looking out into the auditorium and reflecting on the last two months. I had the opportunity to meet so many people and make such special friendships with – it's been great to be able to get to know the rest of the 'What Country Friends Is This?' cast members and thanks to them for being so supportive of Pericles – it was fantastic to have them see our dress rehearsal.

James Farrell and Jamie Rocha Allan are two of the most decent men you could meet and such talent for directing, they work wonderfully well together and their differences complement one another, with them at the steering wheel of Pericles, it was never going to fail.

The male cast of GowerAnna Morrissey – again another exceptional talent I learnt so much from! Her energy and enthusiasm is amazing and you can't help but be excited (yet exhausted!) by her movement sessions. She helped make Pericles so visually beautiful and appealing!

Michael Corbidge – the man, the legend! He truly is a fountain of knowledge – we would not have got through the process without him. He helped me to look after my voice when I got laryngitis early on in rehearsals and then an infection production week. Thanks to him the audience didn't know.

This has been the best possible start to a long (I hope!) acting career and I sincerely hope to return to the RSC stage in the near future, but for now adieu!
