As the piece is called Song of Songs I suppose I should be thinking about singing. However the text in all its richness seems song enough in some ways.

There are people in Christchurch, New Zealand, whose homes and lives are still wrecked. There are young men being blown to bits in Afghanistan. So I feel a bit silly when after a scene goes badly in a Clapham rehearsal room I feel like running out of the building and into the traffic.

Delhi at 3am we are met as arranged at the airport and discover that while we have been airborne Iqbal has got his visa approved at the last gasp, so will be joining us tomorrow as planned, a great relief on both fronts.

So here we are just off Russell Square at the side of the Hotel Russell, in the heart of London's Bloomsbury. This beautiful building is covered in 'tea with milk terracotta'.

Yesterday we ran half of Twelfth Night. Unfortunately one of the cast was not there. It's tricky when someone is reading in, because the rhythms and the established teamwork kind of fall apart.
