Staging Macbeth's visions

Who's this? Greg Hicks plays Macbeth.

This interview is in two parts:
Part one is playing - Part two

Context: Do we believe what we see?

This play is full of impossible things: bleeding daggers hanging in mid-air, ghosts, witches, visions, trees that move, men unborn. In rehearsal the actors were asked:

  • Do you believe in life after death?
  • Do you believe in ghosts?
  • Do you read horoscopes?
  • Can dreams foretell the future?
  • Do you believe the number 13 is unlucky?
  • Could you be capable of killing another human being?

The actors found they answered 'yes' to many of these questions.

Test your belief with a full list of these questions in 'For Teachers'.
