Think
about: The inclusion of the scene where Horatio informs
Gertrude of Claudius' plotting has an interesting impact on
her final scene. Claudius warns her not to drink from the
poisoned cup. She answers: 'I will, my lord'. Armed with this
production's extra piece of knowledge this sounds determined.
Is she daring her husband to let her die? Is this a willing
act of suicide to protect her son and leave the way clear
for him to remove Claudius with no fear for her safety?
