Belief in the fairy world

Who's this? Miles Richardson plays Theseus.

Context: Exorcism of a changeling was not a pleasant business. If it was suspected that a child had been taken by the fairies and a changeling left in its place a test could be done. The suspected changeling would be held close to or even suspended above a hot fire. You knew it was a changeling because it would scream! It was believed a changeling would make its escape away up the chimney. Older changelings were believed to be able to speak with an experience beyond their years.
