Stand up for Shakespeare

In March 2008, we launched our 'Stand up for Shakespeare' manifesto for Shakespeare in schools.

15,000 of you signed up in support of our online campaign calling for children and young people to experience of Shakespeare by:

• Doing it on their feet
• Seeing it live
• Starting it earlier

There are many legacies of the campaign including:

• Learning and Performance Network which represents the manifesto in action
• Young People's Shakespeare production series, designed especially to enable young audiences to see Shakespeare live
• RSC Shakespeare Toolkit for Teachers a resource to help ensure that children and young people explore Shakespeare's plays in lively and active ways

In September 2010, we also launched a new Shakespeare Challenge Arts Award which encourages students aged 11 - 14 to put 'Stand up for Shakespeare' into action in their schools.
