This short film features teachers and students from schools who have been involved in our Learning and Performance Network project (LPN). It includes footage of activities that make up Year 2 of the LPN and interviews with some of the people who have been a part of the programme.
The film was created to be shown at the Regional Schools Celebration on 4 and 5 July 2011 in The Swan Theatre, at which twelve LPN schools performed their unique responses to King Lear and Hamlet.
The Learning and Performance Network is generously supported by THE PAUL HAMLYN FOUNDATION.
A Journey with Shakespeare This five minute film charts the remarkable journey with Shakespeare of a class of 15 year olds from Queensbridge Performing and Visual Arts College in Birmingham as part of the RSC's national schools programme, The Learning and Performance Network. The film is a behind-the-scenes record of the impact on the students, their teacher and parents as they first encounter Shakespeare and The Winter's Tale, rehearse an extract for a local Shakespeare festival involving 5 other schools and then perform it on the stage of our Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. It shows the impact on young people of making a deep connection to Shakespeare.
