Rachel Gartside
Rachel Gartside is one of our Lead Practitioners and has been an Associate Practitioner with RSC Education for more than five years. She's also been on our team full time twice to produce projects for us. Recently, she produced Teaching Shakespeare, our accredited professional development programmes for teachers which we offer in partnership with the University of Warwick.

Rachel began her career in small-scale touring, producing and performing in accessible small cast productions of Shakespeare's work. After training and working as a Secondary Drama/ English/ SEN teacher in Manchester, she was Head of Education at Birmingham Repertory Theatre for several years.
Her freelance work has included directing, project and programme management of community/education work for:
- Birmingham City Council
- Birmingham Opera Company
- Birmingham Royal Ballet
- Sampad (South Asian Arts)
- Midlands Arts Centre
- Allenscroft Children's Centre (pioneering child-centred work at the Foundation stage)
Her work included action research into learning and teaching commissioned by Creative Partnerships and advisory work in using drama and theatre practice as a teaching tool.
