Mary Johnson

Over her 10 years at the RSC, Mary developed the CPD programme for teachers, managed the professional development programme and in 2005/06 served as Acting Director of Learning.

She is an experienced teacher of English and Drama in schools and universities and has a professional acting background.

She has a long-standing interest in creativity: in collaboration with the National College for School Leadership, she developed a year-long creative leadership project for headteachers.

Mary specialises in adapting theatre practice to the learning needs of professionals in other occupations. She leads training workshops in the UK and abroad in the areas of teaching Shakespeare, effective communication, collaborative working and creative leadership.

Who is your favourite Shakespeare character?
Rosalind from As You Like It.

I admire her for her charm, wit, intelligence, generosity, vulnerability and her ability to move among these qualities with such ease.
