Helen Phipps
Helen is an Education Associate Practitioner for RSC Education and works with teachers and young people to deliver a wide range of work across the Key Stages.
Helen's worked in various theatre contexts: performing, directing and facilitating. Her practice has been informed by working with a number of organisations including:
- Women and Theatre
- The National Trust
- Creative Partnerships
- Black Country Touring
- The Play House
Helen's four-year stint at this Birmingham-based theatre in education company greatly informed her approach and she continues to use this model of participatory work with young people and adults today.
- Birmingham Repertory Theatre
Helen is also an Education Associate at Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
In 1998, Helen graduated with a BA(Hons) in English and Drama from Exeter University. She also has an MA (Distinction) in Drama and Theatre Education from Warwick University.
Who's your favourite Shakespeare character, and why?
Hamlet. He's a child lost in a big grown-up world: articulate, bright, witty, very human and a little bit on the edge to say the least. I can relate. If he had just galvanised himself into action a little earlier things would have panned out a bit differently! But then if he had have done, we wouldn't have one of the greatest tragic heroes ever...
