History ensemble member Nick Asbury on first night nerves.
Progressing with Pistol It's Monday and we have now done three shows.
Thursday went really well! PHEW!! It was a close run thing and we were really winging some of it but we all really enjoyed it. In fact, it is on such moments that this company is based. We all worked for each other. We supported Geoffrey as Henry and he did us proud and he in turn supported us.
Of course we didn't finish until 11.15. Which was interesting. Far too long, but we're working on that. In the subsequent two shows we've taken off six minutes a show. But we need to take off at least another 15 minutes. Which is possible and I'm sure we can do it.
But I loved playing Pistol in it and have really begun to find a progression through with him. I'm growing very fond of him, the old bluffer.
We had an unexpected morning off this morning. It felt very good. Like a whole extra day. Yesterday quite a few of us piled round to Clive Wood's and had a lovely roast lamb. He's the only one not utterly exhausted as Henry V is his play off, so he did the cooking. He's had his knackering bit and in a week or so's time he'll be hard back at it so he's enjoying it whilst it lasts.
Another long old notes session this afternoon, followed by working of scenes on stage. It's non stop and even though I'm so darn tired I'm still loving it. Like a kid with a toy.
