History ensemble member on Nick Asbury leaving Clapham and getting ready to return to Stratford for Henry V.

Leaving Clapham
It's Friday and tomorrow we have a final run in the morning and then we officially travel to Stratford from this dump in Clapham in the afternoon. WAHEY!

Costumes waiting...Today we have a second run through in the morning and afternoon and then notes. So it's all go. The mood in the camp is of high excitement. And that's not just because of the rugby. We're all loving doing this show, I think. I am, certainly. The rehearsals are hard, but the more you put in and all that...

Michael's really pushing me in this one. It's good, I need it. Getting me to try different things and to push the envelope. One thing he's really pushing is Pistol's relationship with the audience and he exhorts me to try and 'give it out' to them more and more. Which is all very well and good, but in the rehearsal room that gets trickier and trickier as all we have is some rather gloomy dusty walls and six of your colleagues standing around scratching their bums and waiting for their entrance. Which isn't strictly true, as the support and faith that this company (including all the stage management and designers etc) give one another when they're on the floor is something very special and unique in my experience. But it's still tricky when you have to 'talk to the audience' and it's mate looking back at you trying to maintain eye contact and not make either side feel awkward.

Roll on the audience!
It should be a goody.
And I shan't be sad to see the back of Clapham.
