Over six weeks this summer a new play has been created by Anthony Neilson working with members of the Macbeth / Macbett acting ensemble. The play will premiere at Soho Theatre, London in November 2007, but we are inviting audiences in Newcastle to be part of the creative process. A work in progress will be performed in Stage 2 at Northern Stage, as Anthony and the company see for the first time how an audience respond to their work and invite their feedback after the show.

Anthony's method is distinctive: he takes an idea and a fragment of a script into the rehearsal room. Building up the the script day-by-day he works intensely with his actors, closely tailoring his storytelling to their skills. What emerges is instinctive, thrilling, unashamedly entertaining theatre.

This will be Anthony's first play for the RSC following phenomenal success with his most recent work, The Wonderful World of Dissocia (Northern Stage, May 2007). Wowing critics and audiences alike, the play confirmed Anthony Neilson as a major voice in contemporary British Theatre.

'What makes Neilson's play such a beautiful and thought provoking experience is the rare boldness of its structure, and the wild roller-coaster ride of experience and imagery'
Times on The Wonderful World of Dissocia

Tickets are priced at £5 (£2.50 for RSC Members / Theatre Royal Friends) and are available from the Theatre Royal Box Office on 0870 905 5060.

The work in progress runs at Northern Stage, Stage 2 on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 September at 8pm.
