The RSC Stage and Props Team work collaboritivley on the overall set for all RSC productions, at home and on tour.
Stage and Props (Ref: WP17)
Stage Technicians deal with the nuts and bolts of the scenery taking the set from the workshops and building the stage prior to the technical rehearsal period. They will also move scenery during the production and solve any problems with the set if they arise while a play is being performed.
Props Technicians will source props for all RSC productions. A prop may be a hand prop, furniture or small items, which may be man-handled. They will also move props during the production.

About the placement
The workload of our Stage and Props Team varies throughout the year and also from production to production. Under supervision of trained professionals the successful candidate will work with all members of the team ensuring effective and efficient technical support is in place for all productions i.e. participating in the smooth running of fit-ups, get-ins, rehearsals, performances, changeovers and get-outs on the Stratford stages.
Criteria
We are looking for applicants who are committed to a career in theatre stage and/or props.
Essential attributes:
- Experience of building sets and sourcing props for an amateur theatre group
- Knowledge of staging, basic stage carpentry/engineering, scenic shifting, rigging, slinging and flying
- The ability to work on one’s own initiative and within a team
- Due to Health and Safety regulations candidates must be 18 years or older.
Desirable attributes:
- To be a graduate of or studying towards a technical theatre related qualification
- Flexible and adaptable approach
- Good understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act and its implications on both work colleagues and within the Stage areas and environment.
